BLOODSHOT is a photographic project created during the height of the Covid-19 crisis in my home town.

The images were taken, often looking down upon the terrain I was traversing during my nightly walks. The only time it felt safe to be outside.

There was such a sense of heightened anxiety, fear of others, emotional distress, and painful social isolation. Everything changed, and on a global scale.

A real shift. A rupture to all our lives. The streets here were so quiet, unsettling, frightening. Our city, like many communities, were under a crisis warning scale of Red. The highest color-coded metric there is.

My photographic images for BLOODSHOT, were taken through a red filter screwed to the front of the lens and exposed onto 35mm color film stock.

The camera has built-in feature to imprint a time signature onto the photographic negative.

Through this red filter the asphalt streets, broken pavement, dirt, wind-blown garbage, and dying weeds all capture for me the feeling of that most surreal time that we all collectively shared.
